The Distinguish between Intarsia and Jacquard Knitting
Intarsia and Jacquard knitting are different techniques. Both can make patterns by using multiple colors, but they are different in their knitting way. Many sweater designers are confused about this.
Intarsia knitting is one layer if make jersey stitch, no matter how many colors are used, and from the back side, we can also see the pattern clearly though it is reverse. However jacquard knitting is much heavier, and the back side is mixed color, no pattern at all.
Normally intarsia knitting takes more time than jacquard knitting process. In the photo, it is back sides to compare, the left one is intarsia which is color block and the right one is jacquard which is mixed color
